The message from kaPowell was clear enough and we know to expect a 1/4 point hike at the March meeting and the expectation for another 1/4 hike at the May meeting is growing. Volatility spikes, index flushes. Volatility dies down, index bounces. We’re looking to short the QQQ but are waiting for a bounce in the market, which likely won’t happen until the Volatility Index (VIX) dies down. In this update I explain how to use the /VX and Darvas 2.0 to identify the sweet spot in volatility as well as the markets that have macroeconomic trends that are following through in this environment of higher rates, inflation, and uncertainty. In this video, we look at today’s action on FED day and review the sell-off after Powell spoke. Powell did not give the reassurance the market was hoping to get and we sold off 150 ES points from the gap up after the announcement. Obviously the market did not like what he said, but what does this mean for market direction over the next week or so? What does this mean for the next month or so and how do you trade it?
