My win rate comes from the trades I refuse to take.

You Picked the Right Stock and Still Lost Money — Here's Why.

I used to win about half my trades. But across my last 200 documented trades, I've won 74%. My stock picking didn't change. I just quit taking setups that hadn't earned an A+ rating...

Take SpaceX.

It was the most anticipated IPO of the year, and retail traders bought more of it than any Mag 7 stock. It opened near $161. Within days it ran past $200. Then it fell below its opening price.

Nothing about the company changed in those two weeks. The only difference between the winners and the losers was when they bought.

After ten-plus years of full-time trading, I'm convinced that mistake is why most traders can't be consistently profitable. Everybody's hunting the next hot stock. Any idiot can find one. Open X, turn on CNBC, or scroll Reddit for five minutes and you'll know which names everyone's excited about. None of that gives you an edge, because everyone else is looking at the same feeds. The edge is knowing when one of those hot stocks turns into a trade worth taking.

The Forced Trade Trap

I call it the Forced Trade Trap. It's what happens when you convince yourself a good stock automatically makes a good trade.

You stare at a chart that's almost there. Earnings are coming, volume's picking up, everybody's talking about it, and you don't want to miss the move. So you tell yourself "close enough" and you click buy.I've made that trade more times than I want to admit. Every time, the person fooling me was me.

The losses that hurt the most come from forcing trades that never earned the right to be taken. The fix has nothing to do with finding better stocks. You stop taking trades that haven't earned an A+ rating.

The question that changed everything.

For years I asked the same question every time I pulled up a chart: is this a good stock? That question never made me a dime. The one that did was: is this a good trade, right now? A great company can still be a terrible trade today.

So I went back through years of my own trades, winners and losers alike. The pattern was hard to miss. Every losing trade had a story I'd talked myself into. Every winning trade had a setup.

My best trades shared the same four fingerprints: explosive potential, direction, timing, and a clean entry zone. I wrote them down, and that became the A+ Squeeze. From that day on, my opinions stopped getting a vote.

Over the next four years, across more than 200 documented trades, my win rate climbed to 74%.

The only thing that changed was how many trades I turned down.

Why Listen to Me?

I'm Taylor Horton, VP of Directional Options Strategies at Simpler Trading.

My dad introduced me to trading the Squeeze when I was 17, and one idea hooked me: a single high-probability setup could build an entire career. I finished school online and spent every free hour learning the Squeeze.

Every trade has to earn an A+ before I risk a dime. No exceptions.

What Is An A+ Squeeze?

The Squeeze is a compression pattern: a stock coils up, builds energy, and then makes a bigger-than-expected move. I've built my career around it. What took me years to learn is that not every squeeze deserves your money. Some fire, some fizzle.

Explosive potential

Enough stored energy for a move worth the risk.

Direction

The trend has already told me which way it wants to break.

Timing

Ready now. "One more week" is a pass.

Entry zone

I know where I'm getting in, and I know the exact price that proves me wrong.

A setup that misses even one gets passed on, no matter how much I like the story. And my edge comes from the trades I refuse to take.

Here Are The Stocks I'm Watching Now

I run these four checks across the market, and most names fail. The ones that survive are added to my monthly A+ Squeeze Watchlist — the same list I build for my own trading.

  • The 3 names closest to earning an A+ this month, and the one thing that would disqualify each of them
  • Where each stock sits against the four checks, so you can watch the setup develop on your own charts
  • Why some of this year's hottest stocks never made the list
  • The #1 warning sign that tells me to stay out, no matter how good the story sounds

Send My Watchlist

You're getting the same list I build for my own trading.

Is this for you?

If you're after another hot stock tip, this isn't it. Every name on this list had to pass four checks to make the cut. But if you've ever been right about a stock and still lost money on it, this watchlist will show you what "ready" looks like.
