This blog is the first in a series intended to demonstrate how real clients of Simpler Trading utilize the knowledge of the various traders on
our team, and combine it with their own style, to successfully create their own trading path.
With these stories, we intend to inspire traders, both seasoned and new alike, by demonstrating how others have grown as traders during their unique journey.
He paper-traded for a while, while continuing his internet research and learning from John and Henry’s nightly videos. It was then he admittedly explored many other educational options trading services. He found a few in which he learned from their research, but just didn’t connect with their trading styles or community. At this point in his journey, he discovered David Elliot, the original Elliot Wave guy. His trading style began to morph into his own, creating what he calls, “the perfect hybrid between John Carter and David Elliot,” in which he uses the squeeze in conjunction with David Elliot’s Moving Average Patterns. While these setups gave him his entries, he felt he still had work to do on his exits. It was then that he discovered the ParabolicSAR, and he began using it as an accurate trailing stop. Having success from this combination, he felt he was ready to become a Simpler Options Gold Member.
Once he became a Gold member, he began listening to all of the presenters in the Simpler Options Gold Room. In searching for a way to perfect his exits, he came across Carolyn and her work with Fibonacci. He dedicated himself to learning Carolyn’s work. After reading her book, listening intently in the room, and studying the information she publishes on her site, he is now able to draw his own Fibonacci lines on whichever stocks he wants to trade. He states that her work has been an invaluable resource to him as far as determining where to take profits.
Henry has also made a huge impact on Tyler as a trader. Tyler notes that he makes sure to catch Henry's sessions each morning, as he felt a connection with his personality and his trading style immediately. He says Henry's done wonders to help curve his FOMO, as well as really instilling patience and waiting for the perfect entries. Tyler strives to match HG's options strategies, and his ability to scale in and out of trades each and every day. Henry has helped Tyler immensely as far as overcoming his psychological barriers to trading, and it is something he continues to work on.
These days, Tyler utilizes the traders mainly for the community they’ve created, as market indicators and for continued knowledge and advice. He typically runs his own scans to identify trades. He also has learned to code ThinkScript, and he likes to create his own indicators. Currently, his favorite setups include seeing multiple squeezes in a sector of similar stocks, a nested squeeze in which there is a lower timeframe squeeze firing right after a larger timeframe squeeze has fired, and Carolyn’s two step pattern. He also enjoys researching market theories.
Though Tyler has researched far and wide for his trading knowledge, he’s been able to create his own trading style through a combination of advice and strategies he’s learned from Simpler Trading. Tyler can’t imagine leaving Simpler Trading, as he states strongly that he has yet to find a better trading community that really works to help each other out, and a community that he loves being part of.
With the goal of total financial freedom, getting out of the rat race and being able to travel and put money to work on other projects and ideas in life, he wakes up each morning bright and early, logs on, and gets trading.
Tyler grew up in Santa Clara, California, but now lives with his girlfriend outside of Seattle in Puyallup, WA. When he’s away from the markets, he loves to spend time on sound design and music composition. He’s a music producer who recently got four songs signed to a major EDM label. His work can be found on iTunes. He can be reached in the Simpler Options Trading Room by messaging @Tyler.If you would like to be featured in this blog series, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
